Tutor's Profile

I was a full-time university professor from 1989 to 2008 and taught engineering courses in 5 different universities in the USA. I moved to Dubai in 2008 and since then I have been a full-time tutor in Dubai. My major areas of expertise are Maths (GCSE, IGCSE, AP, IB, O-Level and A-Level), Pre-Calculus and Calculus (IB, AP, A-Level, University), Physics (IB, AP, A-Level, University), Statistics (IB, AP, A-Level, Univesity), Financial Accounting (university), Business Math (university), Finance (MBA). Also, as a university professor (1989-2008) I managed and directed numerous students' research works, e.g. major research projects, theses, and dissertations. Since 2008, in Dubai, I have been assisting univesity students in managing their research projects, theses, and dissertations. Finally, I have been assisting students who need to get prepared for SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS and SAT Math Subject Test. I am entirely familiar with all high school curricula in Dubai (GCSE, IGCSE, IP, AP, IB). 

Based on 19 years of teaching (1989-2008) and 15 years of tutoring (2008-2023) of tutoring/teaching experience, I have come to the conclusion that there really is no universal tutoring approach. Each student represents a set of unique learning capabilities and educational needs. A successful tutor needs to be able to assist students to establish a delicate balance between an individual student's learning capabilities and the volume of materials to be learned, as demanded by the student's school or university curriculum. In my experience, tutors find establishing the said fine balance hardest to achieve in case of topics with a conceptual overtone, such as abstract mathematics. Whereas, striking the needed balance is easier in case of topics with practical applications, such as statics or accounting. I have conducted extensive research in the field of cognition psychology to become aware of students' cognitive/learning patterns and processes. Those personal research and studies along with 33 years of teaching and tutoring experience helps me tremendously to become a better tutor.
