Individual lessons – individual approach. Our lessons are outstanding, as they combine the art of playing the piano with the knowledge of music theory and development of sight-reading skills. For those new to music, the piano is an excellent start as it helps to build a foundation in musicality without major limitations in developing rhythm, tone or intonation. The classes can start from the age of 5 with an assessment.
Young singers are encouraged to join one of the choirs (arranged by age group) as their young bodies adapt to the rigors of vocal training.
Private guitar courses at Brooklyn Melodies offer students many options and caters to a variety of style preferences. Guitar students can study either electric or acoustic guitar, with an emphasis on developing technical skills and reading abilities. Led by classical guitarists from around the world, Brooklyn Melodies has long had a strong tradition in classical guitar while also offering guitar students the opportunity to perform in the school’s “Rock Ensemble.” Students can start guitar classes as early as 6 years old.
Students can start learning Violin at Brooklyn Melodies at ages as young as 5 years old. While they begin learning the fundamentals of bowing, left-hand technique, students also start developing sight-reading skills and strong tone and intonation.
Students get the chance to perform live in Brooklyn Melodies’ bi-annual solo recitals, as well as the school’s chamber orchestra.
Drums is a popular instrument and is found in a wide variety of musical styles. There are many opportunities for ensemble play for an accomplished drum student.
This class draws from a variety of modern dance styles while developing full body integration through organic motion. Students warm up with a combination of floor exercises, body isolations and technical phrases. Utilizing material from the warm-up, longer combinations are crafted to stress spatial relationships, floor patterns and weighted and released movements. Students are encouraged to develop their own creativity through improvisational studies.
