Tutor's Profile

I am a qualified classroom teacher for the British curriculum, and I have been teaching for nearly 14 years in London, Switzerland and Dubai. I am a regular accompanist for the ABRSM exam board in Dubai and freelance in both the UAE and Malaysia, where I play with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.  I was a viola player in the BBC Symphony orchestra and Philharmonia orchestra in London and played in a number of live BBC Proms concerts. Before going freelance, I was a full-time member of staff at Centre for Musical Arts in Dubai as a strings and piano specialist as well as a classroom secondary school Music teacher at Sunmarke School and GEMS Wellington Academy. For my English lessons, I have the CELTA qualification for teaching English as a foreign language and I also teach primary level English, Science, History and Geography. 

I am a warm and friendly teacher, with a practical approcach to communication. Each student has a slightly different way of learning, and I strive to always give a professional and value-centred lesson in a way which my student can understand and build on themselves at home. At the same time, I try to make lessons inspiring whilst giving my students the tools they need to teach themselves when practising at home. I also incorporate ensemble and listening skills to broaden their musical experience.

I teach online lessons and home lessons in JLT and surrounding area.
