Details

When evaluating lessons there are a number of variables that need to be considered: the purpose of the observation, the intended audience for feedback, time available and the relationship between the observer and the teacher. Does one focus on a particular aspect or observe all aspects of the lesson? What makes some lessons more effective than others? Are all taught in this workshop.

Participants will :

  • Discuss the features that contribute to the delivery of an excellent lesson
  • Practise recognising evidence these features are present in a lesson
  • Learn to make judgements on less tangible areas observed during lessons
  • Understand the value of ‘triangulating’ evidence from observations when making judgments
  • Practise giving feedback in a variety of situations
  • Learn how to set targets for improvement in teaching that have the greatest impact on student outcomes
