Tutor's Profile

During my year of teaching, I have taught a range of texts, both at A level, and GCSE level. I have gone through in thorough detail the texts plot, themes, characters, and context, as part of their exam preparation. In year 7, 8, and 9 I have experience in assisting them with writing skills and widening their vocabulary. I also provide model answers, and go through in detail with students how it is a good answer, and use this as a comparison to theirs.

I plan my lessons based on the students' main needs and focus. During a 1 to 1 session, I can break skills and techniques down, and provide students with smaller tasks that will assist them in completing the main question or task focus. I also use creativity in lessons, such as art, drama, group work, and verbal types of teaching. Students will be provided with resources and different types of texts in order to understand the language and build up analysis and explanation skills.  Marking and feedback will also be given thoroughly.

I will cover a range of differnet styles of texts, and assist students in analysing the language and explaining the effect for the reader. We will look at exam content and build up skills needed. Also, in Maths, I will assist students with learning methods of problem solving. With younger students, I can assist them with addition, subtraction, division and multiplication and ways of solving questions. With GCSE level we would cover past paper questions, and methods of solving the exam style questions.
